The primary objective of the 100 Fathers, Inc. Youth Leadership Academy (“100 Fathers YLA”) is to equip young individuals with the wisdom and essential skills necessary to confront and resolve drug abuse and other crises in a manner that is appropriate, non-violent and sustainable. 100 Fathers, Inc., successfully implemented conflict resolution programming in DC Public Schools, DC Community Centers and on behalf of the Mayor in diverse ways throughout the city. Our organization partners and enlists the services of community leaders and stakeholders to provide healthier and safer environments before, during and after school dismissal. We aim to inspire school aged youth to become leaders, effective communicators, and problem solvers who advocate for peace within our communities.
Our team of Fatherhood Facilitators trained in drug treatment and crisis management routinely provide city-wide services focusing on at-risk youth between the ages of 14-18. This crucial period of personal development is where social bonds are formed and identities are manifested. We have seen how intervening at this age can inspire healthy lifestyles, and we hope to continue instilling positive habits that will have a lasting impact on the lives and wellness within our communities.
Over the last several years, 100 Fathers, Inc. has worked with DC Public Schools and local government agencies using Certified Fatherhood Facilitators, Master Trainers, and a Council of Elders to help youth develop safe and healthy lifestyles. For example, 100 Fathers served the
student population at Ballou and implemented a Rites of Passage Program that addressed health and wellness and assisted students with truancy and academic achievement.
